Whats-the-Word-4-Pics-1-Word-IconAmelie here, resurrected.

4 Pics 1 Word, annoyingly lacking a comma in the title, is a puzzle game released by LOTUM GmbH. The idea behind the game is very simple: you are given four pictures and you need to determine what they have in common. To narrow things down for you, the game provides you with twelve letters, and the word you have to come up with is somewhere amongst those letters.

As you correctly identify the unifying feature of the pictures, and if you can’t there are plenty ofphoto(29) cheats available, you move up to the next level. If you’re dumbfounded, you can use coins that will give you clues as to which letter goes in what place. Although you do get coins after each correct answer, you only get a few so it will take you awhile to accumulate enough to even use the option. Coins are available for purchase; however, there are already a few cheat apps available on the Play Store, not the App Store. I was able to obtain an extra 150 coins for putting a review up on the Play Store—we’re not sure if that option is available for the App Store.

Pros:
-If you’re looking for a simple game that you can play for two minutes or two hundred minutes, this is it.
-Another free mobile word game aside from Words With Friends.
-Can easily get right back to where you left off.

Cons:
-Nothing else to do except make the correct word and move up to the next level.
-Cannot move any of the letters around in order to try to figure out the words—they stay in one place.
-Feels inconsistent at times—sometimes you’ll go through ten levels very easily, then all of a sudden you’re stuck at a new level for awhile.

photo(31)Overall, the game is pretty self-limiting. It might be a good way to pass the time but not for very long. The game could improve by adding some more features, such as different modes of play or even interactive features amongst other players.

Lastly, a quick note—there is also an app called 4 Pics 1 Word: What’s the Word by Itch Mania that is practically identical. It is set-up a little differently but it’s basically the same, except that the levels are divided into separate stages. Regardless, you can still purchase coins in order to help you when it’s needed.

Free on the Play Store and App Store; Coins cost extra

Mum isn’t using her ipod touch anymore which means I can “borrow” it, so I can give games like these a shot.

After I clean up my Springfield town, of course…
