I finally got my hands on the Virbank Gym Season goodies for my Pokemon league, not the least of which were the long-awaited badge cases.
I am surprised by how big the badge cases are. I expected them to be more pocket-sized, like your character would carry in the Pokemon games, but they are pretty thick. There’s lot of padding and a glossy cardboard cover. I guess this makes them better display pieces though, which is probably a good idea since you don’t actually have to bring these before any gym leaders to battle.
The badges fit snugly inside that slots and there’s a convenient tab next to each one that lets you pull them out easily. There are even a pair of slots on the upper side to store two DS or 3DS game cards. This means you can store your championship teams right alongside the badges they earned you. Lastly, the case seals shut with a secure magnetic lip on the front. All in all, it’s pretty neat.
I do find it interesting that the case is made to accommodate 3DS cartridges (there’s a little space for the extra notch in them), seeing as there are currently no 3DS Pokemon games available. Simply a piece of forward thinking courtesy, or could there be news of a 3DS title in the near future?
You can find more information about how to join a Pokemon League and get your own gym badges and cases in our post for the Aspertia Gym Season.

These cases were a big hit with my kids at league. Hopefully it encourages those who haven’t registered to do so right away so they can order them!
