I finally got my hands on the Virbank Gym Season goodies for my Pokemon league, not the least of which were the long-awaited badge cases. [...]

Sorry, No Podcast This Week
December 29, 2012
With the holidays and my big move into a new home this week, we were not able to record a new episode.
We will try and have a new Pocket Player Podcast next week, with the first Plot Points episode the week after. We are also working on some other big additions to the site for early in the new year!
Again, sorry, and see you next week!
F2P Friday: DJMAX Ray by Neowiz
December 28, 2012
I will always have a special place in my heart for incredibly fast Japanese rhythm games, and DJMax Ray by Neowiz (iOS) has rekindled that everlasting love. With its tight controls, ubpeat soundtrack, flashy visuals, and insane difficulty, I can’t help but relive flashbacks of me frantically playing Guitar Freaks at a loud arcade, or tripping along to the latest Dance Dance Revolution game. Oh yeah, did I mention that this game is hard? And I mean (as KC would say) hhhhhhaard.
Throwback Thursday: Half-Minute Hero
December 27, 2012
So, we all survived the Mayan Apocalypse. Hooray! But the big countdown to the end of the world got me thinking; What if we didn’t have so much time to prepare for the apocalypse? What if we only had 30 seconds to see it coming? Well, at times like these we need a hero…a Half-Minute Hero! [...]
Walkabout Wednesday: Working It
December 26, 2012
This week’s pic was sent in by my long-time partner in podcasting, Jowy, who likes to sneak in a little bit of The Simpsons: Tapped Out at his work desk. I’m pretty sure having all Mac equipment on your desk helps camouflage the iPad from any nosy bosses. However, Jowy has been hard at work on his Subway Art Blog that we mentioned on the latest Podcast, so you should check that out!
Do you work on games while at work? Or do you chill out with them at home? Show us by sending a pic of where you play to KC [at] thepocketplayers.com.
Pokemon Typing Adventure Coming Everywhere but Here
December 24, 2012
January 10, 2013 was announced this week as the release date for Learn with Pokemon: Typing Adventure for the Nintendo DS in Australia and New Zealand.
The game comes bundled with a tiny Nintendo Wireless Keyboard that looks adorable. Players have to capture Pokemon by typing their names correctly and fast enough. There are also tutorials with pointers on how to increase your overall accuracy and speed. Though I wonder how much is applicable to everyday grammar and typing that doesn’t include the names of fictitious monsters. [...]
Pokemon Monday: How Pokemon Went Viral
December 24, 2012
I just wanted to share this awesome YouTube video by MatthewPatrick13 who recounts (in a very soothing voice) the epic rise of Pokemon and analyzes just what made the franchise so revolutionary. [...]
Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery Rocks Android
December 23, 2012
Released over a year ago on iOS, Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery is finally available on Google Play. For an introductory price of just $1.99, this is music to my ears.
SS&S is a beautiful musical adventure that stimulates all your senses and really shouldn’t be passed up. You play a warrior monk exploring a mythic land full of mysteries, monsters and strange animals that follow you into your dreams. It also has a decent sense of humor. Expect a full review here real soon.
